Bargain Hunters brave sub zero temperatures to queue up through the night, to bag a bargain at the Boxing Day sales at the Silverlink Retail Park in North Tyneside.

Thousands of people braved the freezing temperatures to make sure they grabbed a bargain in the Boxing Day sales.

Dedicated shoppers queued around the store from 3am as they waited for the Next store on Silverlink shopping park to open the doors at 6am.

Customers were keen to get the pick of the bunch in the now annual tradition.

The first dedicated shopper to queue was Dawn Muccallin, 43, from Bedlington.

She said: “I have been queuing since 3am. This is my fourth year coming to the Next sale and I recognise some of the people here from last year.

“I find the deals are always brilliant, it is definitely worth queuing for. I am looking forward to getting a lot of new clothes and maybe some new boots.”

Another shopper queuing eagerly for the sale was 54-year-old Jill Barron from Blyth.

She said: “This is the first time I have queued for the Boxing Day sale at Next. My husband is waiting in the car for me, keeping warm. I just hope it is worth the wait.”

The shoppers, armed with plastic carrier bags, were greeted by the store manager as the doors opened, before running down the aisles looking for bargains.
