A borough man took on a gruelling bike ride on an unusual bicycle to raise funds for WaterAid.
Dave Whiteley, from Tynemouth, took part in RideLondon at the weekend, where he completed the ride on a ‘toilet bike’.
Dave, who has recently left Northumbrian Water after 37 years, said: “A few years ago, I was lucky enough to visit Tanzania with WaterAid, to see first-hand the incredible work for myself.
“I’ve seen areas without any clean water or toilets.
“I’ve also seen the incredible transformation that can happen once access to these essentials for life are available.
“These changes and improvements are amazing.”
Sixty-two-year-old Dave manufactured and rode the toilet bike to raise funds for the charity.
