Top pop acts lined up for Festival
TWO of Britain’s biggest pop acts have lined up to take place in a concert at one of the most picturesque venues.
McFly and The Wanted will play at this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival, set against the backdrop of Tynemouth Priory and Castle.
McFly will take to the stage on Friday, July 13, and The Wanted will perform on Saturday, July 14.
Tickets, costing £25 each plus booking fee, go on sale from 8am on Thursday, February 9, at www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0844 847 2335.
McFly will head back to the north east following a tour last year with King of the Jungle Dougie Poynter and Strictly Come Dancing champion Harry Judd as well as other band members Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.
The Wanted – Jay, Max, Nathan, Siva and Tom – are one of Britain’s biggest pop bands with four Top Five singles, including two Number Ones.
Previous acts who have performed at the festival include Beverley Knight, Alexandra Burke, The Script, James Morrison and Scouting for Girls.
Coun Glynis Barrie, cabinet member for leisure, culture, tourism and safer communities, said: “I’m delighted that once again we can announce a programme of well-known and popular acts for this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
“Our team has a strong track record of hosting great shows at Tynemouth Priory which is putting us in an excellent position when attracting performers.
“The festival grows year on year, attracting more visitors and boosting business for our area.
“I hope people will again come along and enjoy this year’s concerts and, of course, the fantastic free programme of street entertainment.”
The festival will take place over three days – from July 13 to July 15 – with street entertainment being lined up for both the Saturday and Sunday.
It is being supported this year by TyneMet College and Port of Tyne.
