A gas training provider has secured a new contract to help plumbing apprentices across the north east and Yorkshire.

Kier has secured the £250,000 contract with building services engineering training provider JTL thanks to funding from the government initiative Employer Ownership of Skills (EOS).

Gas training at Kier centres in Killingworth and Sheffield will now offer training to JTL apprentices in domestic gas.

Kier regional director, Mike Furze, said: ”Our close relationship with JTL has led to this very promising contract.

“Helping local people get into work and giving them the training they need is part of our strong commitment to making a difference to the communities in which we operate.”

JTL operations director, Caroline Turner, said: “The training Kier has provided to our apprentices so far has been of the highest standard, and I am sure this partnership will continue to provide high quality training opportunities.”
