Footballer Dan Gosling has made a cash donation to the Newcastle United Foundation to boost the charity’s grassroots coaching.
The Newcastle midfielder gave £5,000 as part of his personal commitment to aiding players of the future.
The money will help buy kit and training equipment including balls, bibs and cones for the foundation’s dedicated coaching sessions, which reach 36,000 young people in the region every year.
Dan visited St Peter’s Church of England Primary School in Wallsend to formally hand over equipment, and while there joined in a coaching session with the children.
“I’m very proud to support the Newcastle United Foundation and grassroots football in general,” he said.
“It wasn’t too long ago that I was an aspiring young player myself and I was grateful for every coaching opportunity that I had growing up.
“The work the Newcastle United Foundation does in the local community week in week out is inspiring, and while I’m happy that I’m able to make a difference financially, I’m really pleased to be at sessions like this to see that work for myself.”
