Lifesavers have been boosted by a day of fundraising to help purchase new equipment.

A total of £1,000 was raised for Cullercoats RNLI lifeboat station at the annual lifeboat fundraising day organised by Kathy Blackman, Jen Taylor and Sandra Ross at Cullercoats Crescent Club.

Kathy and Jen raised the money by holding raffles and collections, boosted by the Cullercoats Crescent Club.

Kathy said: “I would like to thank the customers of the Club for their financial support. Also a big thank you must go to people who have donated gifts and prizes in the months prior to the raffle.”

Jen, age 91, added: “Supporting the lifeboats is important to Cullercoats. The volunteer crew give up their time to not only be on call to save lives at sea but they also commit time to training and practice.”

Steve Graham, volunteer lifeboat crewman, said: “I would like to thank Kathy, Jen and Cullercoats Club for their magnificent efforts.”

The funds will be used so that we can continue to help save lives at sea.”
