Writers to launch book at library

TWO North Tyneside writers will help launch a book of new short fiction at Whitley Bay Library next week.

ROOT is a collection of 15 stories from the region published this month by the Cullercoats-based IRON Press.

The book includes work by three writers from the borough and two of them will read their own piece on Thursday, February 21, at 2.30pm.

Jane Roberts-Morpeth, of Whitley Bay, won the North Tyneside Libraries short Story Competition in 2011 with Charybdis, a powerfully lyrical tale about the casting of ashes onto the sea from a fishing boat off Cullercoats.

Meanwhile, Crazy Paving, by Rob Walton, of North Shields, is about disruption caused by neighbours relandscaping their garden.

Entry to the event is free, and refreshments will be served. To reserve a seat call (0191) 200 8500.
