A young boy was shot in the head by an air rifle at his home in Wallsend.
Police and paramedics were called to the house in Vine Street on Tuesday, October 1, after reports that a three-year-old had been injured.
The child was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment to the injuries to his face.
And the incident led police to discover a number of cannabis plants at the property.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of assault – a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman – and both have been bailed pending further enquiries.
A police spokesperson said: “An air rifle was seized by officers. A number of cannabis plants were also recovered from the property.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
