A group of young people from North Tyneside have raised more than £1,000 for a charity close to theirhearts with a family fun day .
Kayleigh Sander, 16, from Whitley Bay, organised the day at the Parks Sports Centre in North Shields, after her dad, Phil Hughes, died suddenly from a brain aneurismearlier this year.
Kayleigh decided to raise money for the Northern Brainwave Appeal in memory of Kayleigh’s dad.
“it is great to do something positive for the unit my dad was treated in,” she said.
Joined by friends, Kayleigh held a family fun day at The Parks on Friday, where they managed to raise more than £1,000.
The fundraiser included face painting, raffles and tombolas, t-shirt designing, refreshments, a craft stall and sports day activities such as a wheel barrow race.
