Pedal-powered pupils from across Tyne and Wear are celebrating their cycling successes over the last year by touring the region with a lucky mascot.
Pupils from schools supported by Sustrans are carrying a mascot around the region by bike over four day stages, handing it on to others from the adjacent area as it continues its journey.
And pupils from Christchurch Primary School took part this week, riding from the Rising Sun Country Park to Broadway East First School in Gosforth.
The tour’s mascot, Billy the biking bear, met Christchurch Primary at Tynemouth beach.
Sustrans school officer Jemma Robinson said: “The pupils in the schools we work with have made amazing progress so far this year.
“The tour is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements with a fun activity, which also allows them to meet pupils from other schools outside their area and play their part in a region wide event.
“I’d like to thank all the staff and parents that help make this project special, but in particular I’d like to say a big well done to all the pupils we work with. Keep up the good work.”
