An elderly man was arrested in suspicion of drink driving after crashing his car in Monkseaton.
Police were called to the roundabout at the junction of Cauldwell Lane and Earsdon Road at 3.25pm on Sunday, September 28, following reports a car had overturned.
Officers attended the scene of the one-vehicle crash, which involved a Honda Jazz, as well as the fire and ambulance service.
Diversions were put in place while the driver was extracted from the car and the vehicle was removed from the road.
He was taken to North Tyneside General Hospital to be checked but suffered minor injuries only.
A 72-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving above the alcohol limit. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
