A man has been banned from entering parts of North Shields after he committed burglaries and thefts in the area.
Mark Smith was given an 18-month anti-social behaviour injunction at a hearing at North Shields County Court.
North Tyneside Council brought the action against the 38-year-old, of Wooler Avenue, North Shields, as part of their crackdown against anti-social behaviour.
Smith is banned from entering the area of Balkwell, and from entering the areas of Meadowell and Percy Main, with access permitted to Percy Main Metro Station.
Posters picturing Smith are being distributed to shops and community centres in the areas in which the injunction prevents him from entering.
Colin Boxshall, safer estates manager, said: “This injunction reinforces the council’s resolve in protecting communities from crime and anti-social behaviour.
“Our management of ASB cases demonstrates a clear focus on protecting people from harm and on supporting victims and witnesses.
“Smith faces immediate arrest and could be sent to prison for up to two years if he breaches the terms of this court order.”
