Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was threatened with a knife.

A 47-year-old man was on platform one at Hadrian Road Metro Station, Wallsend, when he was approached by two men, with one threatening him with a knife.

They stole his wallet and mobile phone from his coat and then slashed the coat, damaging it and discarding it, before leaving on a Metro train travelling towards Wallsend.

The offenders are described as; one male aged approximately 17-years-old, small build, with white blonde hair, and the second male aged approximately 20, with a larger build.

The incident happened at 9.15pm on Saturday, May 7.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
