MARCH: People were left shaken by abuse

My family and I went on the protest march against the EDL on Saturday.

There was no aggression on our side, just sunshine, speeches, music, and children.

It was a day of peaceful happy vibrancy and cultural togetherness.

A woman came over to me to say thank you. She’d gone out to get some bacon with her young son and had witnessed the EDL march. She was upset and shaken by their abuse towards Muslims.

“Please make sure they never come back to Shields,” she said.

There were only 75 of them, some bused in from Grimsby, and 300 of us, and I said yes.
