Residents in the west of the borough are being given the chance to raise any concerns with senior council officials.

Mayor Norma Redfearn is holding a ‘listening’ event for people living in the Benton and Longbenton wards to ask any questions.

She will be joined by cabinet members for the event at St Andrew’s Church Hall, Station Road, Benton, on Tuesday, August 18, from 6pm to 8pm.

Representatives from two local community groups, Justice Prince and Springfield Community Association, will be talking about the work that they are doing in the area.

There will also be an update on the Local Plan, work to reduce future flooding in the area and resurfacing works that are planned.

Residents will also be able to hear about how dementia is affecting more people than ever and what we can do to help support friends, family and neighbours who may be affected.

Northumbria Police will also be on hand to discuss any issues residents may have.
