HAVING given more than 210 years service between them and serving a minimum of five continuous years service prior to the Jubilee year, 11 volunteer crew of Cullercoats RNLI lifeboat were eligible to receive the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

The medals were presented to the crew members by RNLI divisional inspector Andy Clift at the station in recognition and thanks of their continuing commitment to front line emergency rescue services.

Cullercoats operations manager Frank Taylor said: “The medals acknowledge the dedication, obligation and duty the crew undertake in carrying out their tasks.”

“It mustn’t be forgotten that this is also an acknowledgment and gratitude to the crew’s families and employers for the support they also provide behind the scenes.”

The 11 recipients were Tom Carr, David Ankers, Frank Taylor, Ben Bradshaw, Peter Clark, Kris Wilkinson, Scott Jones, Robert Oliver, Paul Tooke, Grahame Wood and Robert Saddler.
