Road safety concerns in Shiremoor are to be raised with the police.
Police have arranged a public meeting to discuss driver behaviour on the Rotary Way dual carriageway from Earsdon to Backworth.
The meeting will take place at the Shiremoor Centre, Earsdon Road, on Thursday, September 18, at 7.15pm.
Officers from Whitley Bay neighbourhood policing team, motor patrols, North Tyneside Council traffic team and local councillors will be present to discuss the issues and answer questions.
Neighbourhood Pc Julie Twigg said: “We’ve had concerns raised by members of the public about driver behaviour on this section of the dual carriageway in Shiremoor.
“We are holding a public meeting to encourage people to come along and express their views about the problem with police and council representatives.
“We are currently monitoring the issue and the speeds of drivers who use this route. As we know speeding drivers risk lives and compromise road safety for other road users.
“We’re also carrying out regular patrols in the area. We are urging people to come along and give their views on this important local issue.”
