METRO services resumed at lunch time today after part of the Metro line in North Tyneside came down over night.
A 10-15 metre stretch of line between Howdon and Percy Main came down, which meant services between Wallsend and North Shields were suspended.
The service is now back up and running as usual.
A Metro spokesman said: “The disruption to Metro services was caused by the overhead lines coming down between Percy Main and Howdon stations.
“We are investigating the reason for this and as a matter of procedure the incident has been reported to the police.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this incident caused during the morning peak period.”
