A motorcyclist has died a month after being seriously injured in a crash.

Chris Limerick, from Whitley Bay, was riding his bike when it was struck by a car in Consett.

The 49-year-old had been receiving treatment ever since the collision which happened at 5.30pm on Wednesday, January 20, in the Number 1 industrial estate off Medomsley Road.

A silver Kia Picanto collided with his Ducati bike as the car made a turn into one of the factory units.

Sadly yesterday (Thursday) Mr Limerick died in St Oswald’s Hospice, Newcastle.

Police enquiries into the collision are continuing.
