A ‘mumpreneur’ is celebrating after being shortlisted for two top national awards.

Mother of one Louise Burns set up The Splat Centre, in Whitley Road, Whitley Bay, in May 2012.

The independent children’s play and learn centre provides educational play sessions aimed at ‘learning through play’ while The Splat Academy offers extra curricular sessions to children of all ages.

Louise has now earned a place at The Mumpreneur Awards after being shortlisted in the Engage category, which recognises businesses that work in close contact with clients.

And she is also in with a chance of winning the title of The Inspirational Business Mum 2014, which will be awarded to the mum who is an inspiration to all women in business.

Louise said: “I am absolutely delighted that The Splat Centre has been recognised at a national level for its close working relationships with customers and the community as a whole.

“When setting up The Splat Centre I wanted it to be a fully inclusive centre for local families where they could access a diverse range of family focused services.Being shortlisted for this award has encouraged me that we are heading in the right direction and I’m really looking forward to attending the ceremony.”

The award ceremony will take place on November 8, at the Heart of England Centre in Warwickshire.
