Two mums are celebrating after winning prizes thanks to local shopping centres.
The Beacon and the Forum shopping centres, in North Shields and Wallsend, selected two winners in their joint Mother’s Day competition.
Rosella Turner, from North Shields, and Lorraine Gilmore, from Wallsend, both won fun pamper hampers including a vibrant selection of beauty, food, and lifestyle gifts.
Nominated as a ‘great mum’ by her daughter-in-law Brenda Keddy, Rosella was crowned a winner by The Beacon for her resilience and commitment to her children and grandchildren, while Lorraine was nominated by her daughter Laura Mckinley and rewarded by The Forum for her positivity, strength, and selfless nature.
Rosella said: “This is just what I needed to cheer me up this week. I am grateful to my daughter-in-law for nominating me and to The Beacon for this basket of goodies.”
Lorraine said: “What a fantastic treat! The Forum is where I always shop locally and I’m so pleased they have selected me as their winner.”
The week leading up to Mother’s Day also proved to be a busy one for the centres – The Beacon saw a footfall of 120,652 while The Forum saw a footfall of 72,336.
David Menzies, centre manager at The Beacon, said: “We received several worthy entries and are proud to announce Rosella Turner as the winner of our Mother’s Day competition.
“This was an opportunity for us at The Beacon to engage members of the local community and inspire them to share why they would like their mums to be recognised.
“It felt great to see that the people of North Shields were as enthusiastic about the occasion as we were.”
Nick Lambert, centre manager at The Forum Shopping Centre, said: “We are thrilled to congratulate Lorraine on winning this Mother’s Day ‘pamper hamper’.
“It was a tough call, as we received many heart-warming entries – however, it was lovely to see that members of the local community really appreciate their mums.”
