A new community noticeboard is helping keep residents up to date with local information and events.

The noticeboard is now taking pride of place in Whitley Lodge, in Whitley Bay, after being bought by the Whitley Lodge Community Spirit (WLCS).

It’s a real opportunity for people to promote what is going on in our area.

Canon Sue Hart, a reader at St Mary’s Parish Church and chairperson of WLCS, said: “Thanks to North Tyneside Council, we are delighted to see the new noticeboard at the Lodge.

“It’s a real opportunity for people to promote what is going on in our area.”

Whitley Lodge Community Spirit, a non-profit organisation raising funds for the Whitley Lodge area, has also recently bought new flower planters, the Christmas lights on the lampposts, and a park bench for Whitley Lodge First School.

It will hold its Summer Fair on June 7 with activities, entertainment, music, food and more than 25 craft stalls.

John Evans, WLCS event manager and owner of The Treehouse, said: “After the success of previous years we are delighted to be arranging this year’s summer fair.

“We hope the local community will support us and enjoy the day.”
