New opportunities for local businesses

North Tyneside businesses are invited to a meeting next week to discuss potential opportunities following the recent arrangements with the council and its delivery partners Balfour Beatty and Capita Symonds.

The North Tyneside Business Forum, Construction Sector Group has arranged the briefing on Tuesday, June 25, so that local businesses can get a better understanding of what opportunities might be emerging with the council and its partners.

Coun Frank Lott, cabinet member responsible for economic development, said: “This very informative meeting will be of great interest to the local construction sector, as well as the wider business community of North Tyneside.

“The three organisations will have up to date information on their forthcoming work programmes and expected outputs for 2013/14.

“They will also discuss plans to work closely with local supply chains and highlight any potential business opportunities that may arise.”

The partnership arrangement saw the transfer of a number of local authority services: Balfour Beatty is now delivering the council’s business services including finance, revenues & benefits, and procurement.

Capita Symonds’ remit includes highways maintenance, planning and trading standards.

The session will take place from 4.15pm to 7.30pm at The Langdale Centre, Howdon, Wallsend, NE28 0HG.
