A new music school is aiming to hit the right note.

Yamaha Music School Tyneside Whitley Bay is already helping more than 100 students learn to play each week after it recently opened.

Playing an instrument really is a life enhancing experience

The facility has breathed new life into the former ‘Coast Club’ premises on Station Road and is fully kitted out with guitar, drum and keyboard classrooms plus a large performance space.

Owner Stuart Shields said: “Playing an instrument really is a life enhancing experience. There are so many myths surrounding musical ‘talent’ but the reality is that, with the right support and guidance, anyone can play.

“We really do specialise in making those first encounters with the instrument accessible and musical.

“It’s a nice notion that we can bring music to the wider community and already have a so many local families making music together.”

The school is hosting a free open event on Saturday, August 1, from noon.
