Newcastle bra shop on the lookout for old bras – Video

LADIES across Tyneside are being urged to rummage in their underwear draw and recycle the bras they no longer wear.

The News Guardian reported last year how Bravissimo in Eldon Garden were collecting used and unwanted bras, and recycling them to raise money for charity.

And now, with the campaign just a couple of months away from ending, staff are having one more push to try and raise £5,000 for Tommy’s Baby Charity.

Paula Fearon of Wallsend is Assistant Manager of the Eldon Garden Store and said the campaign had already raised just over £3,000 for the charity.

She added: “We want all ladies in the north east to have a good rummage through their drawers and give us any unwanted bras, it doesn’t matter where they have been purchased or what condition they are, it all helps the charity.”

The bras are sent to third world countries and recycled, and for every kg sent, a £1 goes straight to the charity.

To donate a bra pop into the store in Eldon Garden, or call 0191 232 8430 or email newcastleshop@bravissimo.com. The campaign also has it’s own twitter account @PinkyTheBraBin.
