Ameobi, who’s older brother Shola also plays for the Toon, was at the o2 store in the Forum Shopping Centre in Wallsend on Wednesday as part of a drive to raise £250 for charity.

The forward happily posed for pictures and signed fans autographs for more than an hour before heading off.

Newcastle face Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park on Saturday in their opening Premier League game of the new 12/13 season and Ameobi has been tipped to play a big part, with Newcastle competing on four fronts this season after the club secured Europa League football with their fifth placed finish last season.
