Newcastle United stars team up with kids to give racism the boot – Video

FORMER Newcastle United defenders Olivier Bernard and John Anderson have been calling on youngsters to help kick racism out of sport.

The ex-Magpies took part in a day-long workshop organised by North Shields-based campaign group Show Racism the Red Card at Ashington Football Club on Friday.

They were joined by three other players past and present – former Blyth Spartans striker Richard Offiong, ex-Charlton Athletic defender Osei Sankofa and Trevor Benjamin, formerly of Leicester City and Bedlington Terriers but now playing up front for Seaton Delaval Amateurs.

The event was attended by 60 pupils from Blyth School Community College.

The youngsters took part in various activities and were all given goody bags containing signed Newcastle United posters.

They also got the chance to quiz the five footballers about racist abuse faced by players over the years.
