No benefit to traffic lights into the new estate

Last week, the two new sets of traffic lights in Earsdon Road dual carriageway became operational.

We now have four operational sets of traffic lights on the half-mile stretch between West Monkseaton and Earsdon.

At least those of us living in South Wellfield can finally once again access our estate from both sides of the dual carriageway.

Apart from the exacerbation of congestion the very effective impedance of traffic flow though, could somebody please explain the benefit of the lights controlling the entrance to the not yet built West Park estate?
