North Shields coffee morning helps fund raise against cancer – Video

A HAIR salon has been helping to raise money for a new cancer centre that is being built at the Freeman Hospital.

Waves Hair Salon in North Shields held a coffee morning, offering anybody the chance to pop in a have a coffee, some cake and a chat to help raise some money for Maggies Cancer Caring Centre’s.

Salon owner Jeannie Jewitt said: “We all know someone who’s had cancer or knows somebody with cancer, so it’s an important cause we’re fundraising for.

“The Maggies Centre is going to built right here on our doorstep in the North East so it’s great that we can see just where the money we’ve raised is going to.”

The Maggies Cancer Centre is currently being built at the Freeman opposite the Northern Centre for Cancer Care and will be open sometime in 2013.
