An independent North Shields chartered surveying firm has set its sights on expansion and is on course to treble turnover inside three years.
AJ Walton Architecture & Surveying, set up by Alan Walton in 2014, has reported its most successful year to date.
And as a result it has opened a new office in Newcastle to cope with new demand for its residential and commercial building surveying services.
The company will look to recruit new specialist staff and invest in new pioneering technology.
Alan Walton, who has previously worked on high profile surveying assignments in the Middle East and London before returning to his native North East, said: “2016 was a big year for us.
“We have seen a marked uplift in the amount of residential surveys we have undertaken and we have secured a significant number of listed building and office conversions, which is an arena we take great pride in here at our company.
“We’re looking to double our workforce in the next 12 months and have recently taken on a Senior Architectural Technician, a Chartered Building Surveyor, and an office manager to run the administration side of the business so that our professional team can concentrate on technical production and client management.”
He added: “Now that we’ve moved into our new home, we feel as though we’re now in an extremely strong position to offer a full range of services under one roof covering all architectural and surveying services for both commercial and residential projects.”
“Our company is forward thinking and we use the latest design software to produce accurate surveys and architectural plans in a timely manner.
“A lot of our projects at present are converting commercial premises back into residential units due to a shortage of housing, along with office and light industrial developments, specifically geared towards SMEs.
“We have worked on many commercial projects over the years and we’re looking forward to securing more contracts in this area.”
