Two coffees morning held at Whitehouse Primary School in North Shields raised more than £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The Whitehouse Lane school is in the midst of a £3m rebuild and the team from developer Sir Robert McAlpine involved also held a coffee morning, as well as the school’s own, accounting for £260 of the total raised.

Headteacher Rachel Woods said: “We were delighted to work in close partnership with Sir Robert McAlpine and our school community to support such a worthwhile cause.”
