A North Shields teacher has been crowned best in the north east.
Mr Denton, of King Edward Primary School, won a competition on social media after receiving the most public support.
intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square went head to head in their search for the North East Teacher of the Year 2015.
Parents, teachers and students from across the region were asked to nominate their favourite teacher via social media.
In the final two, Mr Denton – selected as the Metrocentre finalist – went up against Eldon Square’s finalist Mrs Kemp, of Wellfield Middle School in Whitley Bay.
Following two days of battling for the most retweets on Twitter, Mr Denton was announced as the overall winner.
He will receive an all-expenses paid pamper day in the form of a £300 intu Gift Card.
Mrs Kemp will receive an intu Gift Card worth £50.
Regional marketing manager, Karen Carr said: “Our gift cards are a really popular thank you gift so we thought launching North East Teacher of the Year 2015 would be a perfect way to join local students and parents in saying thank you to our special teachers.
