A six-week course, with the next one starting in April, takes place at the Linskill Centre, in North Shields.

It was set up by Andy Harland who came up with the idea after teaching football at Christ Church Primary School, in Shieldfield, and wished his two-year-old son Charlie could get involved.

He said: “I thought I could run a little toddler group offering football courses. I bought a bunch of balls and some goals and Footy Pupz was born.”

And the courses have already earned positive feedback from parents.

Sally Jakutavicius said: “I think every single aspect of Footy Pupz is outstanding.

“My son is not the most disciplined of boys and likes to test boundaries and all of his antics were taken in stride.

“I will definitely be signing up for the next lot of sessions.”
