I read with great interest that North Tyneside Council planners intend to approve the demolition of the Boardwalk Cafe so that the views of St Mary’s Island lighthouse will be improved when viewed from the area of the Spanish City.
Usually I would welcome such civic concern for the sights of North Tyneside. For almost 40 years I have enjoyed panoramic views of the coastline including the lighthouse from my home.
So, could someone from the council explain to me how it was that the same planners informed me that I could not object to the loss of the view of the lighthouse and coastline when a ‘developer’ decided to build directly opposite my home.
Once again the council and it’s officers prove that it’s one rule for them and another set of rules for the mugs that pay their salaries.
