Would-be bowls players can put their skills to the test in an open day at a North Tyneside club.

The Forth Bowling Club, based at Churchill Playing Fields in Monkseaton, is opening up to offer visitors the chance to learn from a registered coach, have a cuppa and some cake, chat to members and have a look around the clubhouse.

They will also see the new changing and kit room, which is being built by club volunteers to free up the clubhouse for year-round indoor bowling, as well as community and social events.

Chairman Les Betham said: “We are the friendly bowling club and want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to enjoy our facilities, keep fit and healthy, and make new friends.”

The open day takes place on Saturday, April 30, from 11am to 3.30pm.
