Tynemouth Amateur Operatic Society are preparing for their latest production ‘Godspell’ next week.

Godspell, a musical by Stephen Schwartz, will be performed at King’s School in Tynemouth from July 16 to July 20.

The musical is a series of parables, interspersed with a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the crucifixion of Jesus treated briefly near the end.

This production remains true to the original spirit of the Godspell of the 1970s, brought to the stage by a vibrant and enthusiastic cast under the direction of Andrew Clarence and Helen Wilson.

Evening performances start at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. For tickets call (0191) 252 1827.
