Each of the stores are stocking the bright red comedy glasses with hair-raising eyebrows.

Visitors will be able to buy either small or large glasses for £3 with £1 donated to Comic Relief.

Bryan Clark, store director of Specsavers North Shields, said: “We’re all set to make our faces funny for money in support of the great work that Comic Relief does. We want to encourage everyone to join in the fun and buy their Red Nose Day glasses.”

As well as the glasses, other events are taking place ahead of Red Nose Day on March 13. Stores will participate in bake sales, waxing and selfie competitions.
