I AM writing regarding the article about the proposed reduction of hours of children’s clubs (News Guardian, February 9).
It was not mentioned that some of these clubs have already been reduced from two two-hour sessions per week to one two-hour session per week.
Also, last year’s summer play scheme was streamlined from two sessions per week for four weeks period, to one per week for four weeks.
Currently the children’s clubs operate for 32 out of 52 weeks – if they propose to hold them fortnightly, does this mean they will be for 16 weeks a year?
The children of North Tyneside deserve better.
