A MAIN road junction in North Tyneside will be closed overnight for two weeks to allow major roadworks to take place.
There will be a series of overnight closures to widen the A19 junction at Silverlink, Wallsend, from August 8 and 21
The roundabout and entry and exit slip roads will have diversions.
The work will be carried out in two phases of approximately six nights each:
n Phase 1 – A19 southbound, eastern roundabout, A1058 slip roads and Silverlink access;
n Phase 2 – A19 northbound, western roundabout and A1058 slip roads.
Highways Agency project sponsor Shaun Cullumbine said: “We’ve planned these closures for overnight, during the school holidays, to minimise disruption to road users.
“Slight delays are expected but we would ask drivers to bear with us as we complete this next stage of the improvement works.”
A 50mph speed limit will remain in place for the duration.
