Two women who have crossed paths since childhood have now met again in their new jobs at Newcastle United.

Lucy Goodwin started as operations manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues and Events at St James’ Park just a few days before Ashleigh Hook took up a role as an HR officer.

The pair attended St Thomas More School, in North Shields, and as teenagers worked part-time in hospitality at the United ground during match days.

Both went to Leeds to study – Lucy, 23, to Leeds University to do graphic design and communication, and Ashleigh, 24, to Leeds Met University where she gained a degree in event management.

And both live not far from each other in Wallsend.

Ashleigh said: “It was incredible to find that Lucy had got a job here as well.

“We’ve known each other on and off over the years but it is amazing to find that we’ve both ended up at the same place.”

Lucy added: “I was always interested in working in the hospitality industry and it’s fantastic to be doing that and working for a company like Sodexo.

“And I can’t get over the fact that Ashleigh is here as well.”

Frankie Angus, general manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues and Events, said: “Both Ashleigh and Lucy have fitted in very well and are proving to be invaluable additions to our workforce here at NUFC.”
