STARS of stage and screen gathered in Whitley Bay this week to officially launch this year’s pantomime.

The classic tale of Cinderella will be brought to life at the Playhouse by a Hollyoaks beauty, and an Any Dream Will Do finalist when it takes to the stage this December.

Dancing on Ice contestant and Hollyoak’s actress Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes in the soap, will take on the role of Cinderella, and will be joined by Any Dream Will Do runner-up Keith Jack as Prince Charming.

The line-up wouldn’t be complete without Wallsend’s own comedian Steve Walls as Buttons.

Producer Gary Telfer said: “We’re really looking forward to producing Cinderella this year, which has got to be the most popular pantomime of them all – every girl wants to be Cinderella and go to the ball.

“It’s got a great cast of TV stars, and we know how popular the Playhouse pantomime was last year, in fact most of the shows sold out, so we’re expecting another big year.”

Cinderella will run at the Playhouse Whitley Bay from December 18, to Juanary 6, 2013.
