Parenting website in the running for award

A LOCAL parenting website is up for a national award in recognition for its informative blog.

The Birth & Baby Network – established a year ago for expectant and new parents in North Tyneside – has been nominated for an Inspirational Brilliance in Blogging award with Britmums, he UK’s largest network of parent bloggers.

It has now developed into a well used free resource of information, support and reassurance being read by up to 200 people a day.

Blog editor Janine Rudin, who also runs Birth Basics, said: “As an antenatal teacher, doula, postnatal course facilitator and baby massage instructor, I have a great deal of knowledge about pregnancy, birth and parenting and experience of working with parents.

“I wanted to provide a resource for local parents about these issues, linking them to local practitioners, courses and drop-ins.

“The blog combines my backgroup as a journalist and editor with my role working with parents. The website has had a fantastic response and it has been fantastic to be nominated for an award.”
