A partnership promoting Whitley Bay is throwing open its doors for a series of community activities.
Over the coming weeks a range of music, arts and crafts workshops will take place at Whitley Bay Big Local’s shop in Park View.
Activities include a rock music session with Kurt Max, outdoor games with House of Objects and ahead of the bank holiday weekend Pip McEver will be hosting a pop-up museum on Easter.
The Easter bank holiday weekend itself will see the shop become a hub for creative activities.
The programme has been put together by volunteer co-ordinators Sarah Sutton and Kelly Oliver Dougall.
Sarah said: “Since the Big Local shop was opened last summer it has served as a fantastic community hub to help share information about all the great things that are happening in our town.
“There are a number of talented individuals who are involved in fun and varied activities and the shop provides the ideal space to highlight these.”
The shop is open every Saturday from 10am to 1pm. During Easter it will also be open on Tuesdays and Thursday from 10am to noon.
Kelly added: “We are keen to see as many people as possible come and join us in the shop over the next few weeks – whether you are looking to take up a new hobby, make new connections with those with similar interests, keen to volunteer or simply find out more about what is going on and the plans for our town.
“There is a great community spirit within Whitley Bay and we want more and more people to become involved.”
