Paul’s delight as he is named top teacher

A North Shields teacher named best in the region has collected his prizes.

Paul Denton, of King Edward Primary School, was named North East Teacher of the Year 2015 after a competition on social media.

intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square went head to head in the Twitter campaign.

And after two days, Mr Denton – selected as the Metrocentre finalist – pipped fellow finalist Mrs Kemp, of Wellfield Middle School,.

Mr Denton, who won a £300 intu Gift Card, said: “I’m over the moon that I’ve won North East Teacher of the Year and was so flattered to see all the nominations and blogs about myself.

“We’ve just bought our first home we can’t wait to start spending the Gift Card.”

Mrs Kemp will receive an intu Gift Card worth £50.
