A crime prevention scheme which enlists dog walkers in Whitey Bay has been extended to take in a nearby quarry.
The popular ‘Paws to Report’ initiative, where police ask dog walkers to help reduce crime by reporting any suspicious incidents they see when out with their pets, has now been extended to include Marden Quarry.
Officers ask the pet owners to ‘pause their walk’ and make a quick call to report incidents on 101.
Officers regularly see people out walking their pets at all times and are appealing for them to help to further cut crime in the area by reporting anti-social behaviour (ASB), criminal damage, or other suspicious incidents.
And to thank public spirited people for taking part, officers from the neighbourhood policing team have small torches to give away with an inbuilt cavity for dog bags.
