Play will help to highlight tinnitus week

A group supporting people with hearing problems are preparing to put on their first play.

North Tyneside Disability Forum (NTDF) has spent the last year preparing a play to raise awareness of tinnitus.

Local writer John Waring, a member of NTDF’s Scribblers Writing Group, has been working with the tinnitus support group to research the subject for a script.

And along with co-writer KL Hartley they have put together a script that is being used as a template for the play.

A NTDF tinnitus drama group was established, meeting once a week for rehearsals and supporting each other.

They will now showcase the play next month as part of Tinnitus Awareness Week.

The play, entitled A Hairbrush & A Bar Of Toffee, will be performed on Friday, February 6, at The Shiremoor Centre, Earsdon Road, Shiremoor.

Live subtitling of the play will be in operation.

The afternoon will run from noon to 3pm, with the play at 12.30pm followed by guest speakers Val Tait and Emily Broomhead.
