Police go green to help out youngsters

Green-fingered pupils received a helping hand from police when they spruced up an allotment.

Officers from the Wallsend neighbourhood policing team helped children from Western Community Primary School along with the Balmoral Residents’ Association to plant the bushes on Balmoral Street, which leads to West Street allotments.

PCSO Nathan Duddridge said: “This has been a great way of getting police, young people and residents together to put something back to the community.

“It allows us to build relations in the community and listen to any concerns people may have.”
