RESIDENTS in North Tyneside are being urged to get in touch with police via new ‘talk forums’.
The initiative has been introduced by Northumbria Police to allow online conversations between members of the public and neighbourhood inspectors and sergeants.
Residents are encouraged to pose questions about local policing issues via the police website and receive a reply online.
To take part visit www.northumbria.police.uk/talk browse the discussions and topics for the area you wish to ‘talk’ about.
Signing up is free, and residents can choose an area they are interested in from North Shields/Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, Wallsend and Killingworth.
Inspectors from the neighbourhood policing teams have already posted some initial comments and want to get more people to join in the conversation.
Chief Inspector Steve Readdie, of North Tyneside Area Command, said: “We’re always looking for new ways to communicate with our residents and this is an ideal way.
“People can make contact with officers about non urgent matters or simply to ask questions about local issues.
“By using the internet it’s an easy way to get in touch direct from your home computer or smart phone.”
