Dogs from the borough are set for stardom as they show off their tricks in a special film.
When North Shields resident Georgina Lucas signed her dogs up for a tricks training project last summer, she never thought her pooches would become celebs.
But that’s what’s on the cards for rottweilers Treacle and Maya, after they were cast in a short film.
“I just thought we’d be learning paw, or roll over, but then realised that each dog taking part had been given a role in a story, with my dogs being trained to perform tricks, as part of the film,” she said.
Motley Mutts, The Rescue is a joint project between local trainer Sue McCabe of Muttamorphosis, and Nathan Squires of MBT Productions.
When the smallest member of the Motley Mutts gang is dog-napped, the rest of the dogs must collect bones as ransom to save her.
Georgina added: “Treacle and Maya played the part of security guards on duty and had to stay in place for quite a long time while the camera was rolling.
“They then had to run in the same direction as if collecting the ransom.”
Sue McCabe added: “The film, grew out of an idea originally intended to showcase what pet dogs and their owners can do, with just a little bit of training, but the project grew wings.
“It’s the first time a movie with an all-dog-cast has been produced in the north east.”
