Praise for scheme to tackle area concerns

A new partnership aiming to tackle crime and other issues in Killingworth has been praised.

The Killingworth Neighbourhood Policing Team and the local community have been praised by Police and Crime Commissioner Vera Baird QC have launching ‘The Killingworth Partnership’.

The partnership brings local people and businesses together with the police and North Tyneside Council to tackle issues affecting their community such as shoplifting and opportunist crime.

Neighbourhood Inspector John Smith said: “By working together, we are able to show offenders that all eyes are on them and we are all watching.

“We hope the new partnership will set a standard for the future and ensure we keep the area a safe and pleasant place for all.”

Mayor Norma Redfearn said: “Crime and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in North Tyneside and I am delighted we are working with partners to address such issues.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Vera Baird said: “I was recently at an event in Killingworth speaking to local people about what concerns them and I am pleased the neighbourhood team is taking action to tackle these concerns.”
